Thief Sentenced to Over Two Years for Stealing Fabergé Egg at London Pub

LONDON, England - A London-based thief was handed a 27-month prison term after he stole a handbag containing a Fabergé egg valued in the multimillions from outside a pub.

Enzo Conticello, 29, pleaded guilty to theft and three counts of fraud after he snatched marketing executive Rosie Dawson's bag from between her legs while she was conversing in the smoking area of the Dog & Duck pub on November 7, 2024. Surveillance footage recorded the crime, and Conticello promptly used Dawson's bank cards at a nearby store.

Inside the stolen handbag was a rare Fabergé egg set with emeralds alongside a matching watch, both owned by the Craft Irish Whiskey Company and estimated to be worth as much as $3 million. Only seven such sets are known to exist globally. The 18-carat gold egg is adorned with 104 diamonds and features an uncut emerald from Zambia.

Conticello exchanged the handbag for drugs.

More than a year later, police apprehended him in Belfast on unrelated theft charges. The Fabergé egg and watch have yet to be recovered.
