THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE Leads Box Office With $372.5M Worldwide Launch

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie claimed the top spot at the domestic box office by earning $130 million during its opening weekend and accumulating $190 million over the course of five days.

This achievement represents the largest domestic opening in 2026 so far, surpassing Project Hail Mary's $80.5 million debut.

However, the sequel did not quite match the performance of its 2023 predecessor, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which garnered $146 million over its opening weekend and $204 million in its first five days.

On the international front, the film generated $182.4 million from 78 different markets, pushing its global total to $372.5 million.

Domestically, Project Hail Mary secured second place with $30 million during its third weekend. The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, entered the box office rankings at third place with $14.4 million. Disney's Pixar comedy Hoppers took fourth place with $5.8 million. Rounding out the top five was Reminders of Him, which earned $2.3 million.
